Animal-origin Ingredients
Some are strictly forbidden in the framework of the animal protection such as the musk extracted from the musk deers, civet from the civet cats, etc…
Other may still be used such as grey amber found in secretions made by the cachalot whale. Known as one of the best fixative in perfumes. Nevertheless, it is not common to find them in.
Plant-origin Ingredients
A multitude of plants such as flowers, citruses, woods, spices, or aromatics offer plenty of natural ingredients used in perfumery. We distinguish:
- The essences or essential oils obtained by two kinds of extractions depending on the type of ingredients: Cold expression or the steam distillation
- The absolutes are usually obtained after an alcohol wash of the concretes or resinoids obtained after a solvent extractions or the enfleurage technique
- The CO2 extracts produced thanks to the CO2 extraction offering another pure and clean quality oil of natural ingredients
- The isolates which are sub-products of fractional distillation of an essential oil for example. May be produced with a synthetic process.
